Community Patrol Program

KidsPlay Foundation runs free community engagement programs.

In light of the recent rise in violence in our communities, KidsPlay Foundation is obligated to create a collective approach for the safety of our community. Developing and maintaining safe and secure neighbourhoods through vigilant observation and street presence is the foundation of community patrolling, and are essential to preventing crime.

This approach will help us identify challenges, issues, and concerns that emerge at the neighbourhood level by gathering real-time information. Armed with this information, we must engage community members to develop and implement policies and strategies to prevent crime and target violence.

“I saw a small child running in the middle of the road. My patrol team alerted the police and got the child safely back to his home. It was frightening to see the child run across a main road but also reassuring to know that by working with local agencies, we can add the extra layer of support to ensure the safety of our community.”

Those are the words of lead patroller and program coordinator, Nafees. This Community Patrol Program is initiated to address the above referenced issues. All volunteers are equipped with adequate training and resources to begin this pilot project.

You have the ability to make a difference in your neighbourhoods.

This program allows you to connect with your community. You get an opportunity to host info tables at your local libraries, rec centres, and community centers. You get to interact with youth, families, and elders and disseminate information on community issues as part of campaigns.

The team runs active safety campaigns with ICBC and other partnering organizations.
